Today’s painting is of a thistle that we often see up in the NM mountains in the summer. I remember the girls when they were little loving the shape and flower and then being startled by the prickliness of the stems. I’m sure there’s a way of making this flower shape organically by letting the water and pigment do much of the work, but i haven’t discovered that yet after several tries. yet another challenge to master someday!
This piece is small, 7″ x 11″ as are most of the pieces that I do in the 30 in 30 challenge. I’ve been collecting these paintings on my 30 in 30 page (see the top menu bar) if you’d like to see them clustered all together. Thanks for stopping by!
